Presidents Day!

Presidents Day is an annual American holiday that honors George Washington.

Every year, on the third Monday in February, US citizens enjoy a three-day weekend to mark the federal holiday.  The tradition began in honor of President Washington, the country’s first leader whose birthday falls on 22 February.

How is it marked?

Every year, carnivals and parades take place across the country.

It is also a big shopping day, as Americans hit the sales that take place over the bank holiday weekend.

The day is popularly viewed as an opportunity to celebrate all US presidents past and present.

Stop by The Courtney at Bay Pines to check out our one, two and three bedroom layouts! We wish everyone a Happy Presidents Day!

Pirate Invasion!

ARGH you ready for the pirate invasion?

On Saturday, January 27, at 11:30 a.m., the world’s only fully-rigged pirate ship, the Jose Gasparilla, will magically appear at the south end of Hillsborough Bay. A variety of pleasure crafts, all intent on defending the city, will boldly sail forth to meet the ship. But quickly seeing the error of their ways, they turn to join forces with the Captain and his Krewe’s flotilla. The colorful Gasparilla Flotilla then makes its way north across Hillsborough Bay and into Seddon Channel (channel between Davis Island & Harbour Island). The Gasparilla Invasion has begun!

In this annual re-enactment of Tampa’s historic pirate invasion, the Gasparilla Flotilla – led by the Jose Gasparilla teeming from bow to stern and capstan to crow’s nest with swashbuckling YMKG pirates – creates a spectacular sight as she heads up Seddon Channel towards downtown Tampa.  When the Jose Gasparilla docks at the Tampa Convention Center (at 1 p.m.), the Mayor will surrender the Key to the City of Tampa into the hands of the Captain of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla.

With the Key to the City in their hands, the jolly Krewe will launch their victory celebration in the Parade of the Pirates down Bayshore Boulevard.

The invasion portion is free to the public. Tickets are available for Gasparilla Brunch at Gasparilla Treasures™.

Walk the plank over to The Courtney at Bay Pines to see the wonderful treasures we have to offer! We are open on Saturday from 10 am until 5 pm so bring your pirate patches and swing by for a tour!

It’s a Wonderful Life!

FREE SCREENING at CURTIS HIXON PARK Saturday, December 16th, 2017 at 7:30 PM

Get ready for a classic throwback! This movie will get you into the Christmas Spirit! You do not want to miss this event! It only comes once a year!

Watch It’s a Wonderful Life every year, and you’ll see a different message in it every time. On its face, it’s a heartwarmer about treating your fellow man with fairness and love, knowing that they will stand behind you when you need them. But it’s also a political movie about the destructive influence of consolidated wealth (Lionel Barrymore’s Mr. Potter is one of cinema’s great villains); it’s nearly a tragic portrait of a talented dreamer who sacrifices himself completely for others and is almost destroyed by his own frustration; and in the tradition of Dicken’s three Christmas ghosts, it’s a look at the chilling consequences of all the paths not taken in a life. Solemn and sweet but uncompromising, the movie refuses to let George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) off easy. And the key is the title — it may not be the life he wanted, it may not be the life he deserved, it may not always be easy to admit, but it is, truly, a wonderful life.

Before you head over to see this film, stop by The Courtney at Bay Pines for a tour of our beautiful community!
